New Story Suggestions

Hey, everyone!

I would like to hear some suggestions regarding the next BOYH story! We haven't finished the current one, but I think it would be easier to getting rolling again if we start another one. Have a favorite time period or historical event? Suggest it in the comments and I will consider it! I might come up with a list and let the contributors vote, or, let all you guys vote, too! We'll see. ;)

Comment your suggestions!

Thanks!
Kathryn :)

  3. I love like Laura & Mary time period because it's just so simple, and very easy to write with and you can all kinds of little details-like all of Laura's chapters about just sliding down a pile of hay, or sitting by a fire and listening to Pa's fiddle!

  4. How about something like a young teen (maybe around 16) during the medieval time ere( like 1500's) is kidnapped by a rival family. For months she is kept away and hidden, and most people think she is dead. Until one day she meets her captor (of course he has to be young like her). She falls in love with him. And then one day, her captor lets her go. And in a long story and stuff (I know, so articulate (stuff)) the girl has to decide to either stay loyal to her lover or loyal to her family.

  5. how about something like in a far away world where nothing is a crime. And then one day a couple teens from the world (guys and girls) decide to start a rebellion against the corrupt ruler.
I know, second comment, a little too specific to work on as a group again but my head is swarming with ideas. You ask for an idea and I can make up tons on the spot. ;p haha!

    1. I'd prefer it if we keep it in the past. Keep the ideas coming! I'm looking forward to finally starting a story!

  9. If you wanted Historical, the Cold War era would be interesting. Here's an idea for a premise:

In a world where Communism is feared and shunned, MC's (Main Character) father is denounced as a communist. MC is shocked; the effects are swift. Neighbors, friends, and family want no association with them. Even the local grocer refuses to sell produce to them.

MC is determined to prove her father's innocence––he is not a communist––and discover who has accused her father and for what purpose. As she begins to investigate, doubts spread like wildfire. Is her father a communist? Or is this some twisted plan to destroy her father's high reputation and shut him up? (If you wanted a hint of romance: And will (Love Interest) believe the accusations or fight for their love?)

  10. Contemporary could be a consideration too––or futuristic, as well. I think we'd have more creative liberty with a futuristic setting, though. Like Shannon said, Dystopian is a great genre:)

    1. I'd rather not do Dystopian... I think it would be best to stick with past events. Thanks for all the ideas and keep them coming!

  11. oh and we could also try a new writing style. I personally like writing in first person present. Unlike third person past, instead of writing in the past like "walked, said, looked," you would do "walk/walks, says/say, looks/ I look". Example: My heart pounds to the beat of the war drum. "If I could only get to Alistah in time," I think, "she would be safe. Even if my life is the payment."

  12. We could do a story that follows a wagon train(?) that might be cool!

  16. Sorry, Shannon! We will try to start soon. I've been SO busy with school, babysitting, and also lots of music practice since I played at my cousin's wedding yesterday. As soon as I decide on a time period, we'll try to get this thing rolling! Thanks for being patient.
